DEACON ELECTION ON SUNDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 4

The recommendation from the Special Deacon Nominating Committee has been presented to the church.  Twenty-one names were submitted for consideration.  On Sunday morning, October 4, the congregation had the opportunity to vote their choices for deacons to serve for three years beginning January 1, 2010  Sixteen individuals were elected from the twenty-one names submitted. Those elected were:

The Deacons at Providence serve in a servant-ministry role.  Although the Deacons are the official "board" of the church for corporate purposes, they are organized into ministry teams to serve the congregation, the community, and persons either in the congregation and or in the community who have special needs.

The 2010 Deacon Officers are:

In order to attain the title of Deacon Emeritus, a person must be at least sixty-five years of age and have served a minimum of nine years/three terms as a Active Deacon at Providence.  In addition, the Active Deacons must recommend a person for this designated title and the church must approve in a business session.  Deacon Emeritus is a lifetime appointment.
