Lessons and Carols
December 17 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
On December 17, during the 11:00 service, the Sanctuary Choir will present a traditional service of Lessons and Carols. The service traces its roots to a wooden shed serving as the cathedral in Truro, England in 1880. The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir music. The main theme is the development of the loving purposes of God, seen through the windows and the words of the Bible. The center of the service is still found by those who ‘go in heart and mind’ and who consent to follow where the story leads.
