The Health Ministry at Providence Baptist Church is designed to build on and strengthen capacities of individuals, families and congregations to understand and care for one another in light of their relations to God, faith traditions, themselves and the broader society.

In conjunctions with other health professionals, and in collaboration with pastoral staff and congregational members, the Faith Community Nurse participates in the ongoing transformation of the faith community into a source of health and healing. Through partnership with other community health resources, parish nursing fosters new and creative responses to health concerns.  We recognize body , mind and spirit in this ministry of wholeness.

Whole health is promoted by:
   1)  Education regarding current and accurate information on  health and disease based 
        on assessed health needs of church members.
   2)  Screening for potential problems (ie Blood Pressure)
   3)  Counseling regarding health processes the member and family are experiencing
         and identification of health care needs that might otherwise go undetected.
   4)  Acting as a referral Agent to appropriate community resources or organizations.
   5)  Advocating and Nurturing self responsibility and advocating within the healthcare
         system to meet the individual member needs.
   6)  Motivating members in participating in the caring community of the church as it
        relates to whole person health.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS EACH WEDNESDAY EVENING

Anita Bishop, our FCN(Faith Community Nurse), will be available for blood pressure checks every Wednesday from 4:30p-6:00p. Anita will be located at the receptionist's desk in the rotunda.

AEDs Available in the Church Rotunda and in the Activities Center

Automated External Defibrillators (AED) are mounted on the cabinet in the Mail Room immediately behind the Reception Desk in the Rotunda AND on the wall behind the Volunteer Desk in the Activities Center.

When these were installed, the information was shared with the congregation.  However, it is always good to be occasionally reminded of their location.  The Worship Services Ushers are aware of the location of the AED and knowledgeable regarding the health professionals present in our Worship Service.  The Ministry Team and Administrative Staff, plus numerous church members have been trained in the use of this specialized medical equipment.
