The Middle School Ministry at Providence Baptist Church is specifically for youth in grades six, seven, and eight. These are formative years in a person's development and we are keenly aware of the need for spiritual and social development during this stage of life.
In the Sunday School/Bible Study program of the church, there are separate classes for each of the grades in the Middle School Department. The teachers are keenly aware of the dynamics of this age group and the studies of the Bible are tailored to these youths. Most of the teachers have been in this capacity for many years, therefore, they have a heart for middle schoolers and love them as if they were their own children. Various activities are planned throughout the year for these students, and their parents.
In addition to the Bible Study program that include social events, there is a Middle School Choir directed by the Minister of Music. In addition to occasionally singing in a Sunday morning worship service, this group has a special trip or event every year in the Spring. The rehearsal time is on Sunday afternoon. Additionally, a special focus group for middle schoolers meets on Sunday afternoon during the time that the Senior High Choir is rehearsing. Between the rehearsals and focus groups, there is a snack meal for both ages, coordinated by the parents.
The Middle School Ministry is part of the Student Ministry at Providence. Rev. Andy Smith, Minister with Youth and Their Families is the Coordinator of the Student Ministry at Providence He is assisted by Leigh Ann Hughes who handles most of the administrative details. For additional information you may contact Any Smith at email: ANDY SMITH; or Leigh Ann at email: LEIGH ANN.
Middle School Mission Trip
In 2011, our students and sponsors served at the Center for Student Missions in Washington, DC. The Center ministers to students-at-risk in the inner city area. The team had a great week of ministry and some rewarding free time at a water park on the way home. Thank you again for all your prayers and support!
Middle School Fall Retreat
September 16 - 18 our middle school students set off to Awanita Valley for their annual fall retreat. We welcomed many new 6th grade students as well as familiar 7th and 8th grade faces. Thank you to the parents who chaperoned and made the trip a great success!
