UPDATE: The 2010 College Mission Trip is to Ottawa, Canada. For more information email BETH MCCONNELL.
Summer 2009 was an intensive time of missions trips by various groups in our church. Information on these trips is listed below:
The 2009 College Mission Trip was to Eastern Kentucky, May 21 - 28. The primary purpose of this trip was to repair a number of houses in the area. This project is a continuation of a program of repairing houses that began several years ago when a group of singles from Providence spent a week in the area. This project is coordinated with a local contact who arranges with the families involved.
The 6th annual "Book Buddies" trip to eastern Kentucky occurred in June 2009, working with the elementary school in a summer learning program and delivering over 2,000 books on each trip. This has become a recurring event that is anticipated by the elementary school students in the area. This project was a desire of a Providence member - Cindy Brewer, after her first trip to the area. For more information, you may contact Rev. Beth McConnell at 704-366-4030 x124 or email: BETH MCCONNELL.

The High School Mission Trip traveled to Kingston, Jamaica on a mission trip to minister to children in the inner-city. This Mission Trip was a combined venture with the High School Choir. Many fund-raising activities have occurred during the Fall of 2008 and the Winter/Spring of 2009 in order for the youth to raise enough funds to purchase building materials in Kingston, Jamaica to provide adequate housing and other essentials to the inner-city children.

UPDATE: The 2010 Family Kentucky Trip will be July 18 - 22. For more information email BETH MCCONNELL
The Fifth Annual Family Kentucky Trip was July 18 -23, 2009. Seventeen members of Providence traveled to Eastern Kentucky to work the youth of Owsley County in conjunction with the County Social Services. Various activities and outings were conducted during the week designed to give the youth a time to engage in fun activities. These activities were fun-filled and educational. This was a time for the youth to discover activities that interest them for future involvement after the group from Providence left the area to return at a later date.

Chapel/Missions Center
 |
Pictured above is the recently-completed Chapel/Missions Center building. It is the combination of our relocated and refurbished Chapel. This building was the first Worship Center/Sanctuary originally built by the new congregation in 1954. Adjoining the Chapel is a Missions Center which provides a place to conduct missions activities. And it is a place from which missions activities are imagined and implemented.
