SUMMER 2010 was an intensive time of missions trips by various groups in our church. Information on these trips is listed below:
The 2010 College Mission Trip was Ottawa, Canada. This event occurred in May and a report has been given to the congregation during a recent Sunday morning worship service. For more information email BETH MCCONNELL.
The 7th annual "Book Buddies" trip to eastern Kentucky occurred in June 2010, working with the elementary school in Owlsey County in a summer learning program and delivering over 2,000 books to the children of the county. This has become a recurring event that is anticipated by the elementary school students in the area. This project was a desire of a Providence member - Cindy Brewer, after her first trip to the area. For more information, you may contact Rev. Beth McConnell at 704-366-4030 x124 or email: BETH MCCONNELL.
The 2010 High School Mission Trip traveled to the Wherry Housing Project in Smyrna, Tennessee. Students and sponsored worked for a week renovating several apartments in the complex in order to provide adequate housing for the residents of this facility. Although the weather was extremely hot, more work was completed than originally planned. For more information, email ANDY SMITH.
The 2010 Middle School Mission Trip will be to Philadelphia, PA. This event involved approximately two dozen middle school students as they traveled to a "rescue" center in the inner-city of Philadelphia. Meals were prepared and served to the families in the center and the neighborhood. A report was given to the congregation on Sunday morning, July 1l. For more information on this trip and future mission endeavors, email ANDY SMITH.
The 2010 Family Kentucky Trip was July 18 - 22. Twenty church members "signed up" and traveled to eastern Kentucky. The purpose was to repair a number of houses for the residents of Owsley and Powell counties. This was the seventh year that this annual trip has been organized and successful completed. A report to the church was given recently. For more information email BETH MCCONNELL

Chapel/Missions Center
 |
Pictured above is the recently-completed Chapel/Missions Center building. It is the combination of our relocated and refurbished Chapel. This building was the first Worship Center/Sanctuary originally built by the new congregation in 1954. Adjoining the Chapel is a Missions Center which provides a place to conduct missions activities. And it is a place from which missions activities are imagined and implemented.
