Missions Education at Providence

Below are listed the various mission education organizations at Providence. As you can ascertain, we have mission education and participation for children from preschool age through high school.  Adults are also involved in learning more about continuing missions endeavors and new missions projects.  There are mission-oriented programs at Providence for all ages and with diverse approaches.  Missions are at the heart of our church and we can always find a place for additional participants and projects.

The age-related missions educations/activity groups meet on Wednesday evening during the school year.  The End-Of-Year Recognition Program is held in May.  We would like to have your child/children in these mission education groups this Fall.

FALL KICK-OFF GALA on August 26 was the un-official beginning of the Missions Education program for our children and teenagers.  The first meeting of the mission action/education groups was on Wednesday, September 2. We would like to have your child/children in these mission education groups this Fall, plus the Winter and Spring of 2010.

MISSION FRIENDS (Wednesdays 6:30 - 7:15 pm)

This is an age-appropriate missions education activity.  It is a fun, hands-on experience for preschoolers that teaches them about missions at an impressionable age.  The children learn that missionaries are special people whom God is using to tell other people about God and God's love for everyone.

GIRLS IN ACTION
(Wednesdays 6:30 - 7:15 pm)

This missions education program is designed for girls in grades 1 - 6.  The curriculum consists of learning about mission endeavors around the world AND being involved in mission action projects in their community.  In addition, the girls communicate with missions projects in the USA through prayer, telecommunications, gifts, and collection of needed articles to be sent to the mission field.

ACTEENS
(Wednesdays 6:30 - 7:15 pm)

This is a missions organization for girls in grades 7 - 12.  Acteens provides an opportunity for teen girls to hear about missions, do hands on missions projects, go on mission trips, and pray for missions and missionaries.  These activities help teen girls develop a missions lifestyle.  for more information, go to www.acteens.com.

The pictures below and to the left were taken at the ACTEEN-WMU Buddy event recently held in our Missions Center.  The teenager girls involved in Acteens were paired with a member of the church's Women on Missions group.  The pairing is for more than one meeting.  The two buddies will be engaged in various missions events in the church and community.

Women on Mission

(WOM) are the activities groups of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU) of our church.  Through many local and national projects, WOM are meeting needs of individuals in our community and country.  At the same time, our women are growing in their relationship with Christ and in mission involvement.

Children's Missions Recognition

On Wednesday evening, May 13, the church honored and recognized the ministry of missions education for the youth of the church.  The individual children's mssions groups reported on their studies for the previous organizational year that began in September 2008.  A few pictures of the recognition service are posted below.

We are grateful and appreciative for the adult leaders who meet with the children on Wednesday evenings throughout the year.  The study of missions involves "hands on" activities.  Our today leaders are preparing for leaders of tomorrow and missions will strive because of teachers AND students.

Below are pictures of a few of the ten groups participating in the Missions Recognition Service of May 13.
