MAY 2008 CHURCHWIDE COLLECTION PROJECT
Books
Benefitting: Book Buddies Trip to Kentucky
Items Requested:
We need books (new or gently used) for infants through middle school ages. We have about 80 children at the school (elementary grades) but also visit in the homes of numerous others. We try to give each child about a dozen books and leave any left over with the elementary school for distribution throughout the year.
Cookbooks (adult) are also needed, as well as books about sports and boy interests titles, in particular.
Contact Cindy Brewer if you are interested in going on the trip.
Dates are June 15-19.

CALLING ALL USED CELL TELEPHONES
WE NEED YOUR HELP

Many victims of domestic violence pray for a long-term solution, while many of them require a more immediate intervention.  Donating your old cell telephone can be an answer to their prayers.  In an effort to help victims of domestic violence, the Domestic Violence Interfaith Community is partnering with the Women's Commission in collecting old, used, unwanted cell telephones.
DID YOU KNOW?
A cell telephone can be programmed to call 911, regardless of whether or not the user has purchased a service plan.  Providing cell telephones to a domestic violence victim (or potential victim) allows them to call 911 in the event of an emergency.
Telephones can be brought to the church and placed outside the Parish Nurse's office.
For more information, please contact the Women's Commission at 704.432.1568.
