Providence Baptist Church, as a part of its Children's Ministry, offers an extensive Weekday Education Ministry. We seek to provide Christian care and early education experiences for the preschoolers in our church family and in our community. It is our desire to provide developmentally appropriate experiences that will meet the needs and individual abilities of each child's social, emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual growth. We seek to demonstrate loving kindness and concern in all that we do as we nurture our young children in the faith.
The Weekday Education Ministry of Providence Baptist Church is distinctive as a church-based early learning center. Older preschoolers are involved in chapel each week where they hear Bible stories and sing songs together. In the classroom setting, teachers use appropriate Bible conversation and Bible thoughts.
All day and half day programs are available for preschoolers ages 8 weeks through TK. We have small class sizes in order for our teachers to provide individual responses to their students' needs. Features of our programs are:
Our Facilities
Our fifteen classrooms are located on the first floor in the preschool area of the children's building. We also have three age-divided playgrounds, an indoor gymnasium, a children's library, and a kitchen - lunchroom facility.
Curriculum Enrichment
Our Weekday Education Ministry provides the opportunity for children to participate in additional curriculum enrichment through music, "Stretch 'n Grow" physical play, storyteller, children's library and chapel. We coordinate with outside agencies to provide enrichment activities that are not included in the regular classroom setting or fee structure. These enrichment activities/classes may include ballet, computer tots, and gymnastics.
Summer Enrichment
During the summer months, we offer a program of half-day preschool experience for children ages 8 weeks through transitional kindergarten. The hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Extended hour options are available for older preschoolers until 3:00 p.m. Summer enrichment is typically offered for 8 - 10 weeks during the summer.
Parent's Advisory Council
The Parent's Advisory Council (PAC) meets several times during the year and includes parent volunteers from our full care and preschool programs. The mission of the Parents Advisory Council is to continually improve upon the program experience and to foster friendship among families at Providence and in the community. The council also seeks to support and affirm teachers in their efforts with the children. Parent's Advisory Council includes coordination of fundraising, classroom and program events, and parental involvement.
