PASSPORT MISSIONS
June 10-16, 2023
McMurry University
Abilene, Texas
Registration is closed.
Overview:
PASSPORT blends the excitement of summer camp with the adventure of a mission trip. For five days and four nights, students will grow closer to the Lord, put their faith in action through meaningful mission projects and have the summer of their lives! Some highlights include:
- 3 Hours of Hands-On Mission Work Per Day
- Themed Bible Study
- Morning Celebrations & Worship
- Camp Parties-Rec Party, Dance, Variety Show
Theme:
What if the last were actually first? What if weakness brought out strength? Can kindness generate more? Is it possible to create a world where everyone feels welcome? Where everyone is loved? Where everyone belongs?...
From that time, Jesus began to announce, "Change your hearts and lives! Here comes the kingdom of heaven!" Matthew 4:17 (CEB)
Maybe if we walk an extra mile, speak truth to power, breathe in God's love for us and breath out God's love to others... Maybe then, the last would be first. Weakness would bring out strength and gentleness would be so powerful it could shift the wrinkles in time. It would usher in a new kingdom. It would turn the world Upside Down.
PASSPORT 2023 is Upside Down. Who's in?
Parent & Participant Meeting:
On May 17th at 7:00pm, participants, adult leaders, and parents/caregivers are invited to a meeting to ask any final questions about camp, review the weekly schedule, meet our adult leaders, and turn in any outstanding payments or forms.

HIGH SCHOOL MISSION TRIP
July 14-24, 2023
Vazec, Slovakia
Registration is closed.
Description of Work:
Our team will be working and staying in Važec, a small town in central Slovakia. There, we will run a VBS-style camp twice a day for two groups of Roma children. The elements of camp will be planned and implemented by our team. We will host camp at the Samuel Center, a community center in town that supports the local Roma population. Our team will stay in a mission team house where we will sleep, eat, and spend time in fellowship.
We will be serving as a Mission Team representing both Providence Baptist and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Our liaisons in Slovakia will be Shane & Dianne McNary, Field Personnel since 2004. You can read more about them at https://www.classy.org/campaign/dianne-and-shane-mcnary/c101655. Their experience in leading mission teams is unparalleled. They will help our team learn about the culture, stay safe, and have the best experience.
You can see pictures of the Samuel Center and Važec here. The adult individuals are an assortment of partners the McNarys have worked with over the years. There are a few photos from inside the missionary house we will stay at, as well some from the community.
Additionally, you can watch the zoom conversation with the McNarys from the January 8th Parent Town Hall here.
Trip Details:
This trip is limited to 30 participants. The number of available student and adult leader spots will be initially set to 20 students and 10 adult leaders. These numbers could change based on initial registrations and interest.
Adult Leader Interest & Selection:
Anyone adult (age 25 or older) interested in being a leader for this trip may contact Dane via email: [email protected]. Selection of leaders will be right after the registration deadline closes and the total number of male and female students registered is known. As with other trips and events, priority is given to current and regular student ministry volunteers.
Planning and Preparation:
Due to the nature of this year’s trip (including team size), all participants must participate fully in the planning and implementation of camp. Team members must be committed, flexible, and willing to carry out a number of tasks outside of their comfort zone. This trip has high responsibility and high reward. Please consider this as you sign up. There will be ~3 team meetings throughout the spring that are required. Once registration closes, we will work on a schedule for these meetings that is suitable for everyone. Additionally, there will be a 4th/Final meeting for all team members and parents/caregivers closer to departure date to go over final details, etc.
To begin planning for international travel, we recommend you apply for a Passport ASAP (if you do not have one) or make sure your Passport is valid (if you do have one.)
Proof of certain vaccinations (including full+booster COVID-19) will be required.
A full safety plan, including COVID protocols, has been developed by Dane and the McNarys. If you have questions regarding this plan, please contact Dane.
There will also be paperwork associated with Providence, CBF, and the airline that will need to be filled out.
