Providence Baptist Church is located in the heart of Cotswold, a vibrant neighborhood filled with people from all walks of life.

With God’s help, we will engage our Cotswold neighbors through outreach, service, and hospitality ministries, and through our Child Development Center. By engaging Cotswold in these ways, we will share the gift of Christian hospitality and invite our neighbors to form ongoing relationships with God as part of the Providence family of faith.

Cotswold Farmers Market

Every Saturday from May until October, local farmers will gather in our Hunter Lane parking lot to sell their fresh produce, flowers, breads, eggs, and meats. The Cotswold Farmers Market will also showcase local musicians, artisans, and entrepreneurs from the surrounding area.

We look forward to the ways this partnership will help us support local businesses and further our Providence Will priorities of Engaging Cotswold and Blessing Charlotte. Through sharing our space, our church campus will have the opportunity become a thriving hub of community activity throughout the season.

We invite YOU to be a part of this partnership! Come and shop the market, tell your neighbors and friends about it, share your musical talents, and volunteer! We hope you'll join us in providing a warm welcome to the Cotswold Farmers Market community, to our visiting neighbors, and to the possibilities this partnership holds!

Women on Mission

Women on Mission (formerly Women's Missionary Union) has been in existence at Providence Baptist since the beginning of our church. It is a group of active women who meet the second Tuesday of the month September through May (no meetings June, July, & August). There are two break out groups who meet at 10:30 - the Mission Action Group and the Prayer Group followed by a general meeting and lunch at 11:30. We choose speakers to educate our women on our PBC mission partners as well as other opportunities for service in our community and beyond.

Some of our ongoing projects include making sandwiches for Roof Above for their daily meal program for the homeless and providing treat bags for the faculty and staff at our Cotswold neighbor schools and staff at our nearby nursing facilities. We also regularly make blankets for Ronald McDonald House and the Salvation Army Center of Hope and sponsor a tutoring program for children at Rama Rd. School.

Our mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our Cotswold Community, Charlotte, and beyond.

Providence After School Tutoring Program

The Providence Baptist after school tutoring program began in 1994 after a Women on Mission meeting, where a literacy specialist from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spoke about literacy. The women in attendance that day realized they could do something about helping children with their academic progress, and the idea of an after school tutoring program turned into a reality. One of the WOM members knew the principal at Berryhill Elementary School, and a partnership began. The tutoring program met at Jackson Park Baptist Ministries, a church in the Jackson Park community.

Providence volunteers were enlisted, books and supplies were collected, and a room at Jackson Park Ministries was transformed into a library. The tutoring program was for two afternoons a week, and included snacks, Bible stories, art activities, crafts, other enrichment activities, and one-on-one tutoring.

In 2008, Jackson Park Ministries needed the space for a five-day-a-week after school child care program. That was also the year the Mary Nalley Missions Center was completed at Providence. The tutoring program was moved on campus and partnered with Rama Road Elementary, a school in the Cotswold neighborhood.

The after school tutoring program continues with Rama Road. Through the years, many students and volunteers have been blessed by their involvement in the tutoring program. Everyone greatly appreciates the wisdom, vision, and hard work of those ladies who started the program. Thanks be to God!
